After such a hard day at work (REALLY hard), it was nice to come home to a big package from Amazon.com. One would say “great!” but in my case, I wasn’t too excited as I realised it contained three Blu-rays. Even moreso… three SteelBooks. Meant by that that the big room left unfilled inside the box made the SteelBooks jump around during transit, leaving Moonraker’s disc loose.

Anyway, here are the three beauties:

Goldfinger (1964) / Moonraker (1979) / The World Is Not Enough (1999)
I’ll be scanning the covers I hadn’t done in a couple of days, I still have one last movie coming in.
A bit of everything

Hello there. It’s the middle of the week, I’ve only started my job and done a day and a half that I am already beat. I’ve just got to get used to it and fall into a proper sleeping pattern.
It doesn’t attenuate my love for Blu-rays one bit. I just feel that I’ve gotten a lot of movies lately that I haven’t had the time to watch. I’ll play cacth up very soon.
I received a nice package from Amazon.de this morning containing a SteelBook I thought had gone out of print, so it was a very nice surprise to find out it was still available:

Batman Begins / The Dark Knight [Germany]
Besides those good news, I was sad to discover yesterday that I had a package at the post office which wasn’t delivered due to “taxes”. I discovered that my fear was true when I went to pick it up after work this afternoon: it was indeed my package from Amazon.com which had been opened and verified. I was left with a hefty 12,15€ customs’ fee, more than what I paid for shipping! Damn…
Anyway, in it were two movies I got for their awesomeness both within themselves and packaging-wise; they’re part of Warner’s Digibooks releases in the US:

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest [USA] / The Shawshank Redemption [USA]
And these are the amarays I got both from .com and .de along with the BDs up there:

Hellboy – Director’s Cut [USA] / Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas – Director’s Cut [Germany] / The Machinist [Germany]
Body Of Lies French SteelBook – Confirmed
Posted by admin in SteelBooks on April 1st, 2009
It was recently brought to my attention that the long rumoured French SteelBook of Ridley Scott’s Body Of Lies was finally confirmed when Fnac.com updated the placeholder page for the movie. It comes out on May 20th and once again, Fnac will have a special edition of it with an added 48-page booklet.

I like when big packages await me in the mailbox. ^^

I recently did a trade with fellow Canadian SteelBook collector and got the first batch of the new James Bond SteelBooks exclusive to FutureShop stores in Canada. Here’s a group picture:

I thought I’d update you on the forthcoming TF1 Vidéo SteelBooks that should come out on April 2nd:

Pirates
The Forbidden Kingdom

I’d also like to make you take note that Terminator 2: Judgment Day will be getting a triple SteelBook release across Europe:

France May 26th / The Netherlands May 28th / UK June 1st
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (slated for a May 20th release in France) seems to get an upgrade in cover art, same as the one used for the current French DVD version:

Hellboy II French SteelBook – April 29th

I just stumbled upon this on Fnac’s website. This might be a Fnac Exclusive but boy am I happy to be the first to find this info. Here’s a picture of the cover:

New James Bond FutureShop Exclusives canceled (?)
Posted by admin in SteelBooks on March 25th, 2009

It seems as though the once Amazon.com Exclusive, turned both that (for the US) and a FutureShop Exclusive (for Canada), has come back to its original exclusivity. It seems like the release (slated for today) in stores of the three new James Bond SteelBooks just never took place in Canada. I’ve read reports that the clerks in stores didn’t have them listed in their computers, that there were no adverts for them in stores and most relevant of this theory is that they were taken off the FutureShop website a few hours ago and replaced with simple Amaray cased versions.
One can only speculate so long, but it’s safe to say they’ve either been delayed, postponed, canceled or even better, never were meant to be.
Whatever the case may be, I decided to simply order them from Amazon.com and just go for those instead.
