JCVD & TDVC

I remember when I saw JVCD in cinemas back in June last year, the movie felt so real, it felt so true. I can honestly say it’s Jean-Claude Van Damme’s best work yet. The autocaricature along with that long monologue where he stares deep into your eyes and pours his heart out… just beautiful.

This French Blu-ray edition is the best available on the market. Boasting an intentional almost colourless MPEG-4 AVC video encode, along with a perfect DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 French track, it’s a must, technically.

Gaumont have released this movie in a good looking cardboard flip-page thingy. It looks nice, but I’m afraid of breaking it. Will put it in a bag to avoid any scuffs.

I’ve also ordered the German SteelBook of The Da Vinci Code from an Austrian website. Should be receiving it in a couple of days.
I was just about to get the French Digibook release, which you can see on the right, which looks really cool and is quite thick. The only downside is that the French audio is the only track that has a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 encode, whereas the German SteelBook has an English track with that audio, hence why I went for it. Might get the Digibook if it drops in price.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Dutch SteelBook)

Woke up this morning to a little pack sent down from The Netherlands: it was the Terminator 2: Judgment Day Dutch SteelBook which I remember ordering back in March, had almost forgotten about it.
This disc differs from other European releases with the fact that it’s apparently Region Free (or at least the back says so). Not that it matters, but it’s good info for people who wonder which version to get.
This release contains three cuts of the movie: theatrical, special edition and extended special edition.
I’ll be giving it a look whenever I get the time to. Meanwhile, enjoy this powerful front cover:

Clint Eastwood couldn’t stay just in Germany

It’ll probably be confirmed in the coming weeks but it seems like Gran Torino will also be getting a French SteelBook release on July 1st. It seems like Fnac will either be getting the exclusive, or at least a Special Edition.

Another new Amazon.de Exclusive

On July 24th we will see the release of a new Amazon.de Exclusive SteelBook in the shape of the movie RocknRolla. Movie I’ve not yet had the chance to see. I guess I’ll be getting this one. ^^

The Spirit gets Steeled

Twilight, X-Men… Superhero day?

In a recent trade made with a Portuguese friend over at Blu-ray.com, I managed to grab a copy of the cool as Spanish Twilight SteelBook, I don’t care what people think, I cannot wait to watch it.

In other news, I also decided to go for the Special Fnac Edition of the Ultimate Edition of the X-Men Trilogy. Too bad it only has DTS-HR tracks for the movies. Oh well, let’s hope the video quality holds up.
