Gran Torino gets a SteelBook release (Germany)

According to Amazon.de, Clint Eastwood’s newest movie, Gran Torino, will be getting a German SteelBook release (July 10th 2009). An innovation to counter the new German FSK laws that force companies to print the rating on the cover (which, as you can see, ruins the artwork) is to print said rating on a slipcover in which you put a logoless SteelBook.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day Japanese SteelBook (and other Terminator news)

Just when I was about to lose all faith in humankind, I received one of the sexiest gifts ever from a friend I’ve been doing deals with for a while now and I must say that I feel truly honoured to know that person. So thank you so much, you’ll know who you are. :)

So here we have the Japanese Terminator 2: Judgment Day Premium Edition (First Press Limited Edition) Blu-ray SteelBook:

EDIT: Instead of writing yet another blog post for something so related to this one, I thought I’d just edit it in.
There’s been recent rumours that now, not only will France, The Netherlands and the UK get a SteelBook release for Terminator 2, but Germany and Finland (yes, Finland) will also be getting their own.

EDIT 2: Might as well make an edit about this: Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines will also be getting a German SteelBook! Already up for pre-order on Amazon.de.

My name is Blu… James Blu

After such a hard day at work (REALLY hard), it was nice to come home to a big package from Amazon.com. One would say “great!” but in my case, I wasn’t too excited as I realised it contained three Blu-rays. Even moreso… three SteelBooks. Meant by that that the big room left unfilled inside the box made the SteelBooks jump around during transit, leaving Moonraker’s disc loose.

Anyway, here are the three beauties:

Bond Steels 2
Goldfinger (1964) / Moonraker (1979) / The World Is Not Enough (1999)

I’ll be scanning the covers I hadn’t done in a couple of days, I still have one last movie coming in.

A bit of everything

Hello there. It’s the middle of the week, I’ve only started my job and done a day and a half that I am already beat. I’ve just got to get used to it and fall into a proper sleeping pattern.

It doesn’t attenuate my love for Blu-rays one bit. I just feel that I’ve gotten a lot of movies lately that I haven’t had the time to watch. I’ll play cacth up very soon.

I received a nice package from Amazon.de this morning containing a SteelBook I thought had gone out of print, so it was a very nice surprise to find out it was still available:

BB/TDK DE Steel
Batman Begins / The Dark Knight [Germany]

Besides those good news, I was sad to discover yesterday that I had a package at the post office which wasn’t delivered due to “taxes”. I discovered that my fear was true when I went to pick it up after work this afternoon: it was indeed my package from Amazon.com which had been opened and verified. I was left with a hefty 12,15€ customs’ fee, more than what I paid for shipping! Damn…
Anyway, in it were two movies I got for their awesomeness both within themselves and packaging-wise; they’re part of Warner’s Digibooks releases in the US:

Digibooks
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest [USA] / The Shawshank Redemption [USA]

And these are the amarays I got both from .com and .de along with the BDs up there:

Amarays 01/04/09
Hellboy – Director’s Cut [USA] / Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas – Director’s Cut [Germany] / The Machinist [Germany]

Body Of Lies French SteelBook – Confirmed

It was recently brought to my attention that the long rumoured French SteelBook of Ridley Scott’s Body Of Lies was finally confirmed when Fnac.com updated the placeholder page for the movie. It comes out on May 20th and once again, Fnac will have a special edition of it with an added 48-page booklet.
